    The SOMATEX® Safe Cut Bone Marrow Puncture System for collecting histological tissue from the iliac crest is equipped with the specially developed Lock-Wire technology that guarantees sufficient quantity and optimum securing of the biopsy material in the puncture cannula.

    Puncture cannula:
    The puncture cannula of the Safe Cut Puncture System is made of stainless steel, offers maximum stability and has a tapered tip. The trocar positioned in the puncture cannula is equipped with an extremely sharp diamond-ground point that allows easy penetration of the cortex.

    Lock-Wire technology:
    Following the puncture, after the biopsy specimen has been cut and adequately checked for length with the aid of the biopsy slide, the Lock-Wire supplied with Safe Cut is inserted into the opening of the grip of the puncture cannula. In the process the sample is separated from the medullary cavity and the puncture cannula can be removed from the iliac crest. The special design of the Lock-Wire thereby ensures perfect securing of the biopsy specimen in the cannula.* In addition, the result complies with the requirements needed for the pathological evaluation in terms of sufficient quantity and with regard to the quality of the sample. The bone marrow sample is guaranteed to be free from squeeze artefacts and other sample impairments. The Lock Wire is made of nitinol.

    The simplified handling compared with conventional puncture systems also leads to significantly reduced patient trauma together with the simultaneous reduction in the pressure applied by the operating physician.

    Handle:
    The ergonomic handle of the Safe Cut Biopsy System allows for optimum pressure application during use. A closure cap additionally supplied with the needle grip helps to prevent blood from leaking from the proximal end of the cannula. Vacuum-supported biopsy collections are supported by a Luer-Lock connector to attach syringes.
