Teltow, October 9th, 2007. Since 1992 Somatex Medical Technologies GmbH has been developing and manufacturing minimally invasive instruments for clinical use. Innovative technical processes, consistently high product quality, and an unwavering focus on the ergonomy of the instruments, have led to SOMATEX’ success in establishing its developments not just on the German market, but also further afield.
"Leakless Vertebral Reposition Therapy" (LVRT), which SOMATEX is currently developing jointly with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, represents another highly promising field of development. In the near future it will be possible better to treat pain which has its origin in leakages in the vertebral body due to osteoporosis, as well as to realign the vertebral body. The development phase of a new system of protection from CT radiation, in which the eyes and thyroid glands of patients are protected from the radiation effects of computer tomographic investigations, has already been completed. The new protectors will be presented by SOMATEX at Medica, the 39th World Forum for Medicine in November.
"The most important capital resource for an innovative company has to be people, above all those who work for it," says Frank Kniep, founder and managing director of SOMATEX on the occasion of the company’s 15th birthday. "Our success can be directly traced back to the competence and commitment of our staff." So that this potential can be even more effectively harnessed in the future, SOMATEX is currently drawing up an audit of knowledge, which will identify and assess the human, structural, and relationship capital to be found in the company. The aim is to identify the competence, capabilities, and motivation of the staff to enable them to be applied in an optimal way.
"The knowledge audit is our birthday present to ourselves," says Frank Kniep. "What it will mean for us is more transparency, both for our staff and for our partners." Not only that, but the company will gain by the combination of hard business facts and the softer data of the knowledge audit a unique instrument for corporate and risk management. As always at SOMATEX, the staff will be directly involved in the auditing process and the decisions which arise from it – because, as Frank Kniep reveals, "the direct involvement of the staff is one of our most important success factors." |
