| Again a Higher Turnover with Minimum Invasive Instruments |
| SOMATEX Medical Technologies increases its annual turnover and expands its international activities |
In the past year, the medical technology manufacturer SOMATEX Medical Technologies was able to increase its net income before taxes by 66.99%. In particular, the minimum invasive instruments used for tumor marking and diagnosis in magnet resonance imaging (MRI) much contributed to the good results: turnover in this area has increased by 60%. The sale of instruments used in mammography and oncology also increased by 20% each.
"We were able to achieve these excellent overall results mainly by pursuing a straight-forward product strategy," says Frank Kniep, General Manager of SOMATEX. "Our turnover figures have constantly risen in the past years proving that the treating physicians look for a high level of product quality and for ergonomic design – despite intense cost pressure in health care." In addition to that, Frank Kniep comments, corporate measures such as outsourcing of inventories and logistics or consequent HR qualification measures have had a positive effect on the company’s results.
The OEM division newly established in 2005 has considerably contributed to the positive trend too. Meanwhile recognized companies from France, Italy and Germany sell marking and puncturing systems of SOMATEX using their own labels. Since December 1, 2006, SOMATEX’s hyperthermy products are distributed world wide by Dr. Sennewald Medizintechnik GmbH, a company located in Munich, Germany.
The export share of SOMATEX’s total turnover amounts to 35%. This percentage increased due to the fact that SOMATEX has continuously expanded its international business. This year the company again intends to expand its global activities. Already in the first three months of 2007, SOMATEX was able to conclude agreements with two new distributors in Brazil and South Korea. At present, SOMATEX negotiates with potential partners in Scandinavia, India and Israel to open up new attractive markets. |
