Somatex Presents New Biopsy and Tumour Marking Products

New disposable minimum invasion instruments QUICK-SHOT® and TULOC® presented at Medica fair

Teltow, November 11, 2005. Somatex extends its product range by two new disposable instruments to be used for biopsy and tumour marking: The semi-automatic QUICK-SHOT system was specifically developed for obtaining histologically usable tissue material from soft parts and organs. The TULOC product is a new set designed for precise tumour localization.

The QUICK-SHOT product is characterized by a two-level system to withdraw biopsy material offering the surgeon the option of two different biopsy material quantities (12mm and 25mm). For this reason, QUICK-SHOT is particularly suited for gentle withdrawal of tissue in case of smaller lesions - especially of the lung. Similar to the already proven BIOPSY HANDY of Somatex, the QUICK-SHOT product has an atraumatic needle tip with cm markings and can be used for ultrasound as well as for computer tomography. The semi-automatic instrument is very light and can be used with single-hand technique.

The TULOC instrument designed for the preoperative marking of tumours was newly developed for mammography purposes. Its monofilament wire has a very high pressure stability and allows usage even in cases of strong calcification. Due to the low frictional resistance of the wire in the cannula, TULOC can be very smoothly operated and precisely positioned.

From November 16th to 19th, Somatex will show its new products at the Medica fair at its stand C04 in hall 13.
